Fairy Bread Fractions

This week Miss Hollings' and Mrs Gatehouse's homeroom have been working on fractions. We have learnt that halves are two equal pieces, and quarters are four equal pieces. Today we got to make our very own fairy bread and we divided it into halves and quarters.

    What a delightful, yummy way to learn about fractions and maths. I can see how careful everyone was to get the quarters all of equal size. Did you know that two quarters equal one half?

 Today in our Hangout, we listened to a story about the greatest hugs. We set a challenge for our homerooms to write a story about their greatest hugs  and send them into their homeroom teachers. We are looking forward to reading these! I think there might even be a few 'thank you tickets' up for grabs for those people choosing a wonderful attitude towards their home learning! We then used our active listening ears and did a step-by-step drawing.  Here are some of our masterpieces! Tomorrow we are doing our 'guess the baby' challenge - see you all again then!
